Friday Musings

Friday, July 10th, 2009

Lots of things to list so here we go:

First of all - local boy Shane Victorino made it to the All Star game!  Mahalo to all the MLCers who voted for him.  Local Boy Does Good.

This weekend is the annual Korean Festival as Kapiolani Park.  But remember, it's on Friday and Saturday.  We're planning to be there on Saturday.  To see last year's MLC's Korean Festival recap, visit 2008 Korean Festival.  If you plan on going, you can park at Kapiolani Community College and catch a shuttle to and from the Korean Festival.

Tonight (Friday) 70's band White Light will be playing at Hawaiian Brian's from 8:30 to 11:30 PM.  Remember, they won't be playing at the next 70's Nightclub Reunion so here's your chance to check them out.

Someday I hope to meet Joy
And if you can't make it, you'll have another chance to see them on 7/31/09 at Ige's in Pearl City.

Remember Primo beer?  Well, you've probably heard that it's now available again with a brand new recipe - taste tested by Hawaii's own beach boys.  Well, to celebrate Hawaii's upcoming 50 years of Statehood, a limited edition Draft-only ale is being brewed - Primo Statehood Ale.

“Primo wants to do something special to commemorate Hawaii’s rich history and Primo Statehood Ale is just the right fit,” said Kyle Wortham, Director of Marketing at Primo Brewing & Malting Co. “We’ve created a celebratory craft beer with a different flavor profile from our Island Lager. The new brew is an exceptionally balanced and smooth-drinking Pale Ale with a nice floral hop aroma. We know local people will enjoy it because many locals gave us input on how the beer should taste.”

Ask for it at select bars and restaurants on Oahu and Maui.

Oh, can't forget about shopping.  Kahala Mall has a sidewalk sale this weekend.  Maybe we'll swing over after the Korean Festival.

And you'll probably need some money to go shopping, so check out this site:
Unclaimed Property Search
You may have some unclaimed cash waiting for you.  Or your immediate family members.  Or your relatives.  Or you neighbors.  Or you co-workers.  One co-worker of mine had over $3,000 sitting in there.  She was so happy Paula found it for her, that she treated us to dinner!  And even if you searched before and found nothing, there may have been some money that went in since your last search.

And finally, for KAN and all the other Hawaii transplants in Seattle, here's a hilarious video of the Boomer Blast Seattle that took place on July 4th in Seattle with The Beatboys and The King Pins.

Mahalo to Gail Ohashi for sending me this video

So what are your MLC plans for this busy summer weekend?
