Vegas Quickie

July 23rd, 2008 by Rodney

Hey everyone!  Thanks for the birthday wishes and playing the Word Association Game.  Hope you had fun.  And thanks to QueenBee Shauna for making sure everyone behaved - and for playing along too.

I’m in the process of uploading my pictures and writing my entry but the vacation is catching up with me (in other words, I need sleep) so I won’t have an entry ready until Friday.  But I’ll leave you with one picture for now:

treasure-chest-500.JPG
Treasure Chest poker: 4-of-a-kind brings up 5 treasure chests then you pick one.  The treasure can be 140, 180, 250, 500, (that’s credits) and the jackpot is $1199.  Close but no cigar.  Considering that 140 usually comes up a majority of the time, hey!, I’ll take it.

1st… Since you got 400+ posts, I guess we can play that game.

  2. Rodney:

    Sure we can!

  3. anklebiters:

I thought you’d return with enough to retire on ;-) You need to hit a few more 4-of-a-kind!!

  4. hemajang:

No clue on what that means…never been to vegas. Sounds like you made $545 on that machine on the 25¢ you put in…good, yeah?

  5. Ocean Lover:

    Welcome Back Rodney and Paula!

Did you have to get permission from the casino manager to TAKE THAT PICTURE? I know they’re REALLY STRICT about that sort of thing.

    OL

  6. JindoMaster808:

You came up with a topic headline that’s Shauna-worthy! :)

Like OL said, how the hell did you get away with taking a picture? Maybe you’d get in trouble around the card tables?

  7. Ynaku:

Real Camera or Camera Phone? Gotta be quick yeah? So where da showgirls? Nah just kidding. Hope you had a great time. Welcome Back.

Good Morning Gang. Going back home to Hilo today. Too much Vog in Kona.

  8. M:

    Well come back Rodney!!!

  9. Tankobu:

Wow, nice hit Rodney! Please let me know where that machine is, I going later this year.

  10. Rodney:

@hemajang - actually, that jackpot paid 500 quarters, or $125. I had 45 credits left in the machine when it hit so that makes up the 545 credits. And in order to play for the treasure chest, it requires that I bet the max - which is 5 credits or $1.25 per game. Now if it were a $1 machine instead of a 25¢ machine, the it’d be $545, but that means each game will cost me $5

I didn’t cash out there. Played it down to 400 credits, then took the money and ran. Initial cost to me was $20.

The picture was taken with a camera phone. Maybe at the strip casinos, they’re strict with cameras, but downtown is a bit more easy going. In fact there was another picture I took (which you’ll see later), where the slot guy came just as I was snapping the picture. His hands were going to be in the picture so he pulled them back, then asked “done?”. So they’re pretty cool with it. I guess it’d be hard to police. I’m sure at the tables it’ll be a no-no. They have pit bosses watching.

@JM808 - yeah, I’m learning that a good topic headline makes all the difference

  11. Braddah Lance:

    Welcome back! Deposit or withdrawl?

And yeah, you gotta be quick with the camera. I’ve taken many a pic inside a casino but at the tables is a definite no-no…. unless you ask a pit boss… which I did too…. I nevah like dem take my money AND kick me out!

  12. Rodney:

    Thanks BL!

    Deposit.

btw, I gave you the wrong scoop. Sorry. The pretzel place at MGM isn’t Nathan’s but New York Pretzel. I thought I ate a garlic one there last time, but when we went, didn’t have a garlic one. I opted for the jalapeno one instead this time. Mistake. I paid for it later that night - IYKWIM.

  13. Shauna:

Can’t wait to see more photos!

@ JindoMaster808: You like the Shauna headlines? :) Hope I’m not getting a bad reputation here. Heh heh! Rodney, back me up, I’m as sweet and innocent as they come. ;)

  14. BananaFish:

I’m as sweet and innocent as they come.

Did I hear Shauna’s monitor getting knocked over by her nose? ;)

Hey Largo, sounds like you had a pretty good trip, even if was a deposit trip. Good job on the poker! :)

Well, and the pretzel deal as well. Hey better watch out for those jalapenos, now too. Shucks, that’s my favorite pretzel, but I not a fan of salmonella.

  15. Rodney:

Heh heh! Rodney, back me up, I’m as sweet and innocent as they come.

    Yeah, what she said.

@BF - the jalapeno/salmonella thought crossed my mind but since I was in Vegas, I might as well gamble.

  16. Tankobu:

Hey, there’s a blog title for you - “Shauna, sweet and innocent :???: ” (sorry Shauna)

    Rodney, how come you’re “Largo”?

  17. Rodney:

    @Tankobu

Before I was a blogger, I was a poster - and my screen name was Largo.
Why Largo? One of my favorite web-comics is Megatokyo and the character I relate to is Largo. And Largo speaks L33T.

  18. opso:

auright! welcome back Largo. hope your trip was good.

ho….you must’ve been fast with the camera to take casino pix.
da “suits” neva come and take you in da back room? you know….da one with no cameras.

Shauna - you crack me up!
sweet and innocent……and i bet you said that with a straight face too. peh

  19. Tankobu:

Rodney, thanks for revealing your identity. Very cool!

  20. JindoMaster808:

Shauna - You’re cool in my book. Don’t hold back with the headlines. :)

I’m still cracking up after reading what came after your post. :D

  21. Elle Bush:
