Merging on to the I-50
July 17th, 2008 by RodneyYup, next week Monday (7/21), I’m hitting the BIG 50. So Paula and I are heading out to Las Vegas to celebrate my 50th birthday. Where does the time go? Wasn’t that long ago that I was staying up until 4:00 AM dancing the night away at The Point After. Nowadays, I have a hard time just staying up watching Stephanie Lum - and that’s the 9:00 news!
I guess time flies when you’re having fun. 
So I won’t be blogging until I get back. Between the shopping and eating and gambling, I’m going to need what little time is left to sleep. But I’ll take my camera and snap some pictures for a later entry.
But first, let me share this funny story.
Ever since I was little, we always celebrated my birthday on July 20th. It was a pretty good day - after all, that was the day that man first walked on the moon. Then when I turned 15, I went to get my driver’s permit. After I filled out the form and gave it to the lady, she looked it over along with my birth certificate and said “You wrote in the wrong birth date”. I said, “No, July 20th”. Then she said “Look at your birth certificate, it states July 21st”. Huh? I’ve never seen my birth certificate before and sure enough, it stated July 21st. I look at my mom and she shrugs her shoulders and says “Eh, hard to keep track of all 4 boys, you know”.
So for 14 years, I celebrated my birthday 1 day early. Wassup Wit…, I mean, ho, da ODD… I mean - Sheesh! Talk about a Midlife Crisis! At 15 years old!
So anyway, while I’m away I’ve set up another entry for a word game to keep you folks busy until I return. Play nicely.

Hope you win big in Vegas, so no need worry about the job situation. Then you can just work at the Advertiser for love.

OOOH! and then you can throw a blog party to celebrate your birthday! Yeah!
That’s pretty messed up about your wrong birthday date. Your mom’s reaction is classic, though. “Eh, so what choo like I do?” hehehe Right after you thought you had a cool birthday date. July 20 is my sister’s b-day. I always remember cause of the moon landing.

Thank you for the HBD wishes. But LV will have to wait a bit more. Our 1:00 PM flight has been postponed until 4:30. TOMORROW MORNING!
I’ll have to play twice as hard to stay within budget!

Honestly, it’s hard leaving at this time with all the people who were riffed at work on my mind. I really feel for them.
