Third Time’s a Charm?

May 13th, 2008 by Rodney

Okay, here’s the third version of the 4 fast dances mix.

Fast Dances V3

Goodbeer already got the first and third songs - Summer Sun and One Fine Morning, respectively. So now, figure out songs 2 and 4
@Goodbeer, if you know them, email them to me or hold off posting them until the end of the day. Let’s see of other readers can guess them

Too early in the morning…haven’t had my java yet…was packing for my Hawaii vacation and not even done yet!! I recognize the songs but title/artists draws a blank.

  2. hemajang:

Not good at this but was last song by Sly and the Family Stone?, sounds like them anyway…don’t know song title…”Dance?”

  3. Goodbeer:

I threw in the towel last Friday. It’s still the same for me anyway; #2 I know but can’t place it and #4 is totally 404. Got ginkgo?

    2. Them Changes by Buddy Miles
    3. One Fine Morning by Lighthouse
    4. Stand by Sly and the Family Stone

    Nice mix Rodney.
Visited the Greenwood website, Richard is listed as a trumpet player.
When I lived in Maui late ’70s, early ’80s, I was driving down Lower Main Street by Harbour Lights apartments and there was Richard, in his bright yellow t shirt and shark bait legs in shorts walking to buy stuff from Shishido Manju. I picked him up and drove him there and around Maui. Went to listen to them at Maui Beach Hotel.
How did Joy’s voice sound. I remember her having a very strong voice.
Think her brother was in the group, is he the keyboard player?

See! I knew I’d recognize those songs! Oh well, been out of commission for the past few days, so I wouldn’t have remembered the song titles or the names of the bands. But, thanks for the longer mix, RL! At least my curiosity won’t get the best of me!

Goodbeer - thanks for the link to the two songs the other day. “Summer Sun” sounds so “local” - would be a great song for a local band if no one’s done it yet (I don’t remember!)! Can’t help but feel happy when I listen to that song!

opso - If you used to hang out at Kengo’s before going clubbing, you more likely saw my husband there than me (at Kengo’s, anyway… he used to go there all the time)! But, I’m sure we must have crossed paths somewhere! (That’s what I tell my husband, too… along with… “You neva ask me dance!” LOL).

I just recently scored a copy of the Carlos Santana and Buddy Miles - Live! album which was recorded at the 1972 Sunshine Festival in Diamond Head Crater. Them Changes is on it, but this live version is different.
I still don’t remember Stand, though. I know Everyday People and I Want To Take You Higher from the same album really well, but Stand just doesn’t ring a bell. I was in elementary school at the time. Maybe the battery in my transistor radio was dead when KPOI and (was it?) KORL, KGU or KKUA was giving it airplay. I was spending my money on BBs and slingshots at that age.
